Fishermans cottage reformed in Puerto Andratx
This beautiful fishing man’s cottage was built in 1910 one of the firsts to be built. In 1997 the cottage was totally reformed to a very high standard but respecting the charm with exposed beams and sloping roofs.
Entering the house there is a small entrance hall and dining area, to the right discreetly done giving the sitting room privacy from the entrance door, but on the other hand open plan. Behind the sitting room there is the stair well to go upstairs, and beyond that there is a large down stairs double bedroom en suite, and with a door to a small patio which gives light and air to the bedroom and bathroom, as the patio goes up to the first floor terrace floor, with glass and a went. Next to the bedroom is the kitchen very modern new, not been used. The kitchen also has access to the small patio.
Upstairs there are 3 bedrooms, one has a dressing room behind the bed, and this bedroom also has a small terrace looking out on the walk way. Next to this bedroom there is a small bedroom which is used as a dressing room. Next to the stairs there is another double bedroom, and next door there is the family bathroom which is large. Next to the large bathroom is the master, which has access out on to a terrace where under the eaves has a washing machine hidden in a corner protected from the elements, built into a cupboard. Under the eves is where the washing is hung to dry. On this terrace there is the glass floor which gives light to the patio below, and to one side is the open vent. On this terrace there is the spiral staircase, which takes one up to the large roof terrace of 25 M2 where the views are spectacular, looking over the bay to the other side, up to the mountains, and across the roofs of the port. In summer there is a canvas awning which covers the terrace for shade, Also there are trellises made to fit for summer to have privacy on one side of the terrace from the neighbours.
The house is very well insulated, and as the roof terrace has been built on top of the sloping roof, this has made like an air chamber on top of the roof of the house and under the roof terrace floor, with air vents. This makes the house very warm in winter and cool in summer. With air conditioning through out the house it is cool in summer and warm in winter. Most of the floors are parquet and in the bathrooms and terraces there are tiles. The house was reformed by a very well known arquitect from the region. The walk way is pedestrian, and a dead en so it is in a very quiet area. One can drive the car up and un load, but there is plenty of parking nearby, either municipal or private. The amenities are very close by too. A perfect holiday home, or a cosy cottage for a small family.
